Arabica and Fine Robusta should not be compared only by price per kilogram because they can serve different product roles and quality tiers.
Commodity Robusta is often cheaper than specialty Arabica, but Fine Robusta requires more selective harvesting, processing control, sorting, traceability, and quality evaluation. Those activities add cost and can justify a different price from bulk canephora.
Value also depends on application. A Fine Robusta that improves espresso body, crema, and milk-beverage performance may be commercially valuable even if its flavor profile differs from a high-acidity Arabica.
For buyers, the fair comparison is specification to specification: cup quality, defects, process, traceability, volume, consistency, packing, and delivery terms.
Buyer takeaway: price is meaningful only after the product is defined. Species alone does not tell you whether a coffee is expensive, cheap, or good value.
