Cambodian Green Coffee Sample Request: What to Ask a Supplier to Send

A sample is the first serious test of a Robusta Cambodia supplier. Buyers should request enough information to understand what the coffee represents, not just enough beans to run one roast.

Ask for a representative lot sample

The sample should come from a defined lot whenever possible. Ask for the harvest period, region, processing method, available volume and whether the sample is representative of the commercial shipment. If the supplier sends a specially prepared micro-lot while quoting a different bulk lot, the comparison becomes meaningless.

Request technical information with the coffee

Useful sample information includes moisture reading, defect notes, screen information where available, storage conditions and any existing cupping or quality report. Buyers do not need perfect documentation from a new origin, but they do need consistency between what is claimed and what can be verified.

Test for your actual use case

A roaster evaluating Robusta Cambodia for espresso should test it in espresso. A buyer considering a blend should evaluate the target inclusion range. The sample should answer a commercial question: can this lot work in the intended product at the intended price?
