Cambodia’s opportunity is to build transparent quality-linked purchasing models while its coffee sector is still developing. Small, traceable producer networks can make it easier to connect a specific lot and quality result back to the people who produced it.

Processing infrastructure and buyer access also matter because farmers cannot capture value if good cherries are mixed into anonymous bulk coffee after harvest.

Buyer takeaway: ask how quality premiums are calculated and who receives them. A credible Fine Robusta program should explain the mechanism, not simply claim that premium coffee “supports farmers.”
